Future Project Plans

I have made it clear since I decided to study film/film and television production at university that I would create a portfolio consisting of a number of films storyboarded, filmed and edited myself.

Initially, I had envisaged myself adding three or four videos to my portfolio that I would have made in a gap year. These videos include:
-'Everybody Knows' - McFly - Unofficial Music Video
-'The Heart Never Lies' - McFly - Unofficial Music Video
-'Good For You' - We Are The Ocean - Unofficial Music Video
   -A Film Noir Comedic Short
   -Crohn's documentary

Only until October 2015 was this my plan. However, after looking into university courses, researching different production studios' job information/requirements, and talking to careers advisors, I made the decision to apply for a university course instead.

London is the media capital of Britain and arguably Europe. Living so close to the city and having such a great selection of successful universities influenced my decision, as well as committing to further research about assessment details for courses; I learnt that there is the possibility for producing the list of films I want to make in independent study time at university.
Furthermore, the facilities of all universities I have applied for boast state-of-the-art filming equipment and editing facilities. This is therefore a really great opportunity to develop my skills using professional equipment and technologies, which I believe is the one element of my study that I have not had experience in yet.

I am definitely looking forward to expanding my portfolio, and observing the improvement of quality of content I make throughout my university career. Applying theory to films I have made is something I have recently begun to enjoy and I look forward to learning more critical and theoretical frameworks.

I hope this digital portfolio of my works illustrates the style and talent I have and hope to develop in the future.

Extra Curricular Work

I have not produced as many pieces independently; Media coursework has been the most significant platform for me to learn new skills and develop my techniques in all aspects of film production; script writing, treatment production, storyboarding, producing animatics, filming, acting, editing and publishing online.

Silent short film in the style of Film Noir and director Mathieu Kassovitz

As I will make reference to in my post about future plans, I intend to produce a number of independent videos in my independent study time. While these will mainly be music videos, a number of short films will make my portfolio more diverse and professional.

Media Coursework

I first realised that I was enthusiastic about film production at the start of the Media Studies AS course. In particular I found enjoyment and opportunity to express creativity through the researching, storyboarding, filming and editing of the following three videos. These three short productions are the first projects I was involved in.

Practice horror film opening sequence at set location, shot in one day

A short film with the brief: ‘a meeting between two individuals in a continuity sequence’

 Horror film opening sequence

Unofficial music video for McFly’s ‘Memory Lane’ featuring a set list of shots, at a set location and filmed on one day

Unofficial music video for McBusted’s single, accompanied by promotional campaign digipak and advert

Film Production Portfolio

This digital portfolio outlines my experience of film and media production, it includes examples of work I have been involved in for Media Studies - as well as extra curricular pieces, and finally it highlights my ambitions for future study at university and careers after this.
